Perfect for our youngest performers (approximately ages 5–8), the Pre-Junior Company offers 50-minute classes designed to build confidence, communication, and cooperation through a range of engaging drama games and creative activities. Students will have the chance to share their work with parents in a short in-theatre performance on the 30th of August which will be a celebration of their growth and achievements. Classes are capped at 20 students, so we encourage families to enrol early to secure a place.

Our Junior Company program is designed for students in Grades 3–6 and welcomes both returning members and new students who have the confidence and commitment to take part in a five-show theatre season. In 2026, the Junior Company will be divided into two programs: Programme 1 – Introduction to Production - MainStage Skills (Term 1) This introductory program focuses on developing the foundational skills needed for participation in our MainStage Production. Students will explore ensemble work, vocal development, characterisation, and script performance. This can help them make the decision if they are ready to be part of a full-scale production, or if they would prefer to focus on stage skills. For those interested, there will also be opportunities to perform solo pieces or small group scenes at the Launceston Competitions. Programme 2 – MainStage Production (Terms 2–4) In this program, students will work towards presenting a full-scale theatre production, featuring matinee and evening performances at a local venue — currently planned for the Albert Hall in November 2026. This program also includes the opportunity to participate in the Launceston Christmas Parade in early December. Please note: A small number of Saturday rehearsals will be scheduled as part of the MainStage Production calendar. MainStage Production classes are now capped at 35 students, so we encourage families to enrol early to secure a place.

Our Junior Stage Skills weekly sessions focus on building performance skills and confidence, without the additional commitment of a full production. Designed to be budget-friendly and time-efficient, these classes are perfect for students who are new to performing, wish to grow their stage confidence, or are not yet ready or have the time for the demands of our Junior Company MainStage Production program. There are no weekend rehearsals and no changes to class cost or duration. Students will still have the opportunity to perform through parent showings and, if interested, the Launceston Competitions. All LYTE programmes also include the opportunity to participate in the Launceston Christmas Parade in early December. Why not make an evening of it by joining our Choir Kids class straight after this one? It’s the perfect way to build your singing alongside your performance skills.
